Reading your blog is a pleasure and I can tell you are providing a lot of good info.
I think a lot depends the size of a garden and the climate to choose the right watering system. I for sure wouldn't wanna miss my underground sprinkler system that runs every single night during the really hot months down here in Texas. It is important in this climate here the ground really will be good soaken or otherwise the whole watering wouldn't make much sense at all. Just to water for a few minutes will make the ground dry out really quick again and fail the deeper roots to get water too.
