In the coming months, gardening enthusiasts can look forward to a host of gardening and flower shows all over the country. These are just a few of the great shows that are on offer.

The Essex Garden Show

Brentwood hosts the Essex Garden Show from 16 to 18 May. There will be something for everyone among the wide range of stands and exhibitions, both indoors and outdoors. You’ll be inspired by the magnificent displays put together by experts, while you’ll also be able to see all the latest garden products.

There’ll be demonstrations and talks by the top people in their field and, when you get peckish, you’ll find plenty of tasty treats available at the food stalls.

The Essex Garden Show

RHS Chelsea Flower Show

To be held from 20 to 24 May, the RHS Chelsea Flower Show is a garden lover’s delight. There’ll be some 30 show gardens for you to enjoy, with themes ranging from romantic to artisan and from woodland to urban. And a feature will be a special Chelsea garden for Britain in Bloom designed by RHS Vice President Alan Titchmarsh to mark his 50th year in horticulture. There will also be a floral exhibit to mark the outbreak of World War I, depicting life on the front line.

Excellence and variety are the hallmarks of the Chelsea Flower Show and this year this tradition will continue. You’ll have the chance to buy all manner of plants and garden accessories and, if you enjoy opera, Opera Holland Park are scheduled to give a performance of light opera on 23 May.

Gardening Scotland

If you’re in the north of the country you should keep 30 May to 1 June free so that you can get to the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh and take in the Gardening Scotlandshow. There’ll be superb floral displays and some inspirational gardens created by leading designers and, with over 400 exhibitorspresent, you’ll be able to buy all the plants, tools and garden accessories you need to make your home garden the envy of your neighbours.

Experts from the Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society will be on hand to give you practical advice while there’ll be plenty of food outlets where you’ll be able to sample local delicacies and, if you want a musical break, the Red Hot Chilli Pipers and the Newtongrange Silver Band will there to entertain you.

Blenheim Palace Flower Show

From 20 to 22 June Blenheim Palaceon Oxfordshire plays host to one of Britain’s great garden shows. Some of Britain’s top garden designers will be showing their work in the show gardens to delight and inspire while in the Grand Floral Pavilionyou’ll be able to chat with expert gardeners and buy quality flowers and plants from the brilliant displays on show.

If you’re keen to improve your gardening skills, “Gardener’s World” presenter Monty Don will be on hand in the Gardening Theatre to give advice and share tips while other experts like Charlie Dimmock, Tommy Walsh and Joe Swift will also be appearing over the weekend.

There’ll be plenty of food and drink to help you recharge your batteries throughout the day with everything from café-style food to a delicatessen. There’s even a champagne bar for those with a taste for bubbly.

The Malvern Autumn Show

Taking place at the Three Counties Showgrounds on 27 and 28 September is a paradise for garden and food lovers. If you get along to the show, you’ll be able to enjoy gardening talks, cooking demonstrations, displays of vegetables and vintage farm machinery; and there’s the opportunity for some great shopping.

The Malvern Autumn Show

There’ll be landscaped gardens by top designers as well as floral art displays, arts and crafts and the last major RHS flower showof the year, providing a riot of colour and greenery. There’s also the chance to show off your own talents with loads of competitions for enthusiastic amateurs and professionals alike.
