Spring, summer, fall and winter – All seasons can make our gardens look their best. Each of them has its own way of adding color to the garden and it’s up to us to let it do so.

If you are a beginner in gardening you will have to learn a few things in order to avoid certain problems.

gardening tipsNo matter what season, before planting any type of flower, wine, bush or tree, you must prepare the soil accordingly. The quality of the vegetal or animal fertilizer you add to the soil is very important and it is part of the preparation.

The best way to go for any type of culture is to add peat moss, humus and organic compost to the soil. This combination contains a lot of nutrients that will help the plants grow. You must never use raw animal waste as a fertilizer because its acid composition will damage the young plants.

Choose the plants in the order in which they will add color to your garden depending on the climate. Impatiens, for example, will not dwell in an area exposed to the sun for six to eight hours.

Before planting, start by drawing a garden plan on paper. Make sure you do not overcrowd the plants in a small place or leave a large gap for the weeds to grow unrestrained.

Another frequent mistake, gardeners make is planting the small plants too deep in the ground. Even in the gardens built on a ground with a slight inclination the plants won’t “fall down” and they don’t need to be buried in order to survive.

The flowers bought inside pots from the stores need special attention before being planted in your garden. The roots must be gently spread in order for the plant to grow properly because in the pot they are most likely to have taken the shape of a ball.

A garden needs attention from spring planting to fall cleaning and winter decorating. You can be sure it will not take care of itself. Keep a tight garden care schedule and take out time to attend your garden everyday.

Watering the plants the right way is also something you should learn. Plants need humidity but they don’t need to be flooded. If you want an eco garden make sure you save the rain water in water barrels. You can always use this water later for garden watering.
